VIETNAMESE JOURNEY TO FREEDOM
(above and slideshow at right) Several APDC members attended the commemoration of a "Vietnamese Journey to Freedom" at Camp Murray (20th Aviation Building 33, Camp Murray, WA 98430-5112) on Sunday, April 26th. This community event marks the 40th anniversary of the first wave of Vietnamese to the state of Washington. Camp Murray was the former home for the first 500 Southeast Asian Refugees arriving in Washington State. Attendees included former Secretary of State Ralph Munroe and several other dignitaries and leaders in the community. |

ASIAN-PACIFIC HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION (slideshow at left) Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration was Sunday, May 3, 2015. The Seattle Center Festál included performances, visual arts and hands-on activities, foods, games and a lively marketplace. The festival launched Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Seattle with spectacular lion dances, youth drill teams, drumming, martial arts, and artists from around the state. API Heritage Month Celebration was presented in partnership with the Asian-Pacific Directors Coalition. |
